Two simple ways to get started:

Toby Preps for Australia 🦘
Toby
#adultdog #reactive #anxious
✔ Socialisation
✔ Basic Obedience
March 2025 - May 2025
The Challenge
Toby, a 5-year-old Maltese, went from friendly to reactive almost overnight at age 4. He lunged and growled at big dogs, running children, rolling carts, janitors, guards, and motorcycles. At home he barked nonstop at hallway noises. The move to a new condo made everything worse. With relocation to Australia looming, his family needed fast, lasting change.
How We Helped
▸ Built a clear daily routine and structure so Toby felt safe and understood
Taught his mom how to lead calmly through triggers instead of reacting to them.
▸ Practiced real-world scenarios until reactivity on walks dropped to zero
Prepared the whole family for the big move so Toby could thrive in his new country
Toby is now living his best life in Melbourne — calm, confident, and enjoying walks with his family again

Watch Toby do the opposite of what he used to do in this situation. The old Toby will mirror the barking behavior from the other dogs in the stroller. But now? He doesn't engage. He ignores them. That's what we want- a dog who doesn't react to reactive dogs.

Chandler the Super Star 🌟

The Rise to Stardom
Chandler is a toy poodle puppy who started with Basic Obedience at 7months old. Poodles are extremely smart and with the right guidance, they can do a lot of things and learn really fast. Because of his superstar quality, Chandler actually stared in his very own commercial where the had to act. And by acting, it meant having a fun time with his mom and dad. Using his training, he was completely natural and confident onscreen. This is mostly because of the bond that was built durng training with his parents.
Training is Bonding
By training with the owners, dogs form a stronger bond with their humans. They learn to 'work' together and understand each other. The goal is to provide owners with the tools to achieve the lifestyle that is suitable for everyone for a more enjoyable life together. It's all about having a healthy quality if life.
Working with Barry has been such a great experience for us. His patience, guidance, and genuine love for what he does really show in every session. We’ve seen so much progress in Chandler—not just in his skills, but also in his confidence and behavior.
Chandler truly enjoys every training, and as a fur parent, that means everything to me. I’m so grateful for the support and care Barry has given us throughout this journey.
Thank you so much for trusting Chandler and for being part of his growth. 🐶🙏

Chandler's Journey to Confidence
Young pups absorb a lot of early training and socialisation. Chandler benefitted a lot from training, watch him slowly learn to trust his parents and enjoy the training. The big world outside can get quickly overwhelming for little puppies. So teaching them confidence as early as possible results in a lifetime free of anxiety and full of fun filled experiences together.

Fearful at First
Riley is handsome young teen who came to us quite fearful so a Socialization Course was the best fit. In these sessions, we addressed the leash pulling, the reactiveness and his fear when encountering unknown experiences outdoors. He was so fearful that he wouldn't dare accept treats. Treats are what we use to reward good behavior. So, in small doses he started gaining confidence, we reward every step. Little by little we challenged Riley. First, he met Monday (a very calm presence) for him to get used to, then slowly through different times and busy-ness, we practiced in real-time and real-world experiences.
Practical Training
We train for real-world situations, not party tricks or entertainment. This is why we always train with the owners and outdoors where most interactions happen. By the end of training, owners are well equipped to handle their dog, understand the reasons behind the behaviors and read their dog's cues.
Progress
Towards the end of the course, Riley came out of his shell, gained enough confidence and trust to accept treats outdoors. This opened the floodgate of possibilities for Riley and Mara. Quickly, he picked up practical commands from Basic Obedience. He did so well and was so smart, that he was suitable for Advanced Obedience. He has been passing with flying colors, learning so fast, he is doing Agility and even starting to do Sniff work. From a scared young dog to a confident adult, we all couldn't be any prouder.
While researching dog schools, I was drawn to Pawnation BGC for 2 main reasons. First, the training is very hands-on where you do the lessons together with your dog, which really helped me understand how to work with my dog Riley. Second, there’s a big focus on practicality and real life. The goal isn’t just to teach tricks, but to help Riley live day to day with me while being happy, calm, and polite in different situations.
On the Sessions
Pawnation BGC uses tricks and agility as tools to improve communication and teamwork between you and your dog. It’s less about the trick itself and more about building understanding and trust.
Even though Riley has already graduated from all the courses (Basic Obedience, Socialization, Advanced Obedience, and Agility), we still signed up for another package of 8 sessions, which we’re currently doing. I really enjoy continuing because I like having a trainer I can ask questions to, and I appreciate having a weekly challenge for Riley. It keeps the both of us learning and builds his mental fortitude. The changes Riley has gone through because of these sessions are truly priceless, which is why I confidently vouch for this training.
Riley’s Journey
When we started, Riley was extremely anxious. Walks were very difficult because I didn’t know how to help him. He would bark at every person, cat, and dog, and he would shake uncontrollably during car rides. I reached out to Pawnation BGC last March (Riley was 3 years old then), and ever since, Riley has become such a confident little guy. He now loves car rides and does his best to be polite to everyone we encounter. He’s still learning (he occasionally gets scared of other dogs), but the improvement has been incredible. Before, I felt hopeless and unsure how to help him. Now, I’m confident that with continued training, he’ll only keep getting better.
Overall
I 100% recommend Pawnation BGC no matter what stage you and your dog are at. The training uses loving, respectful methods that build confidence and calmness, not just in the dog, but in the owner as well.☺️

Riley Conquers the Mall
The mall used to trigger young Riley to bark or react in fear. This was the last session for Socialization because this is the hardest challenge for him. The previous sessions were in preparation for him to 'conquer his fear'. Practicing and building his confidence resulted in this wonderful result where he is calm and confident while walking around the mall. Now strolling the mall is an enjoyable experience for both him and his mom.

June 2023 - October 2024
Started with a Fluffy Puppy
Maki was a super energetic tiny fluffball of a puppy with smart parents who decided to have him trained early on. This proved to be the best decision with regards to Maki's development.
Socialized Early, Socialized Correctly
The most common causes of reactivity and anxiety in adulthood is not only the 'lack-of' socialization, it's also the misconception of socialization. Most take it literally by putting an unprepared puppy or dog in a confined space with other dogs to 'socialize' like dog parks or daycare. Putting an unprepared pup in a stuation like this is like throwing s baby to the sharks. Not knowing what to do by the overwhelming experience, they express this in different behaviors such as non stop barking, cowering, or even aggression. Maki's had the guidance to provide Maki with the exposure he is able to process in a healthy manner and slowly broaden his experience. This results in the confident adult he is now. So in every situation, he has learned that the desired behavior from his is just to remain calm and trust his humans to give him direction.
"So proud of our little snow baby! Last week, he graduated from Basic Obedience and Socialization.
Did you know, during Maki's first few months with us, one of our problems was his reactivity? He would bark out of excitement at everything he sees outside. People, animals, garbage bins, you name it. We couldn't even enjoy eating out cause he'd get so noisy. We also didn't allow him to walk outside. He was only confined in his stroller because we were too worried about how his white coat would get dirty. Another issue with him was that he was terrified of staircases, sidewalk gutters and paths that are not flat.
One of our best decisions was to enroll him in Barry's training program. Maki enjoyed every session! Not only that, you can really see his progress each day. His focus and impulse control has improved so much. And it wasn't only him who learned. Barry also taught me so many things that helped me understand and train Maki better.
I'm happy cause now we actually find it enjoyable when we bring Maki out with us. He doesn't bark anymore when we're outside and he's become very confident in going up and down the stairs. We're also lucky cause he's always very eager to learn so teaching him new things is not that difficult anymore.
Thank you so much @pawnationbgc and of course @monday_pawnationbgc!

Pia the 3 Year old Beagle 🥰

April 2023 - September 2023
Reactivity Struggles
Pia started training at 3 years old. Mom Sam was struggling with her reactivity which included behaviors like lunging and excessive barking. Beagles are known for their high energy levels as they were originally bred as hunting dogs with a strong instinct to track scents and a natural desire for physical activity.
Redirecting Energy
Training Pia has been highly effective due to her intelligence and eagerness to please, beagles can be trained effectively. With positive reinforcement methods, consistency, routine and a very dedicated owner, Pia has learned to productively use her energy. The jittery energy was the main cause of her reactivity and that was resolved once she was given a routine, an outlet and a way to utilize her smart brain.
Training Saves Lives
Training has also helped keep her safe- once the helper accidentally left the gate open and Pia decided to go for a stroll outside. Using her training for long-distance recall (which she loves), the household was able to find her and bring her home safely. How did it work? Because we taught her that coming back to us is a positive experience and she gets rewarded for it. So a terrifying situation was resolved and without harm on anyone, just good vibes. That’s what we all want, keep our dogs safe and teach them to trust our judgement and experience no discomfort or fear, even when the situation gets critical.
"A wonderful moment for Pia: Nutella (female labrador) for 2 years even at a distance Pia would bark, lunge, growl at her and we could never get close EVER.
Gradually we've been introducing them slowly, they're not going to be best friends but at least we can get close enough without Pia reacting so badly. We're all really proud of her, including Nutella's owner.
Truly a wonderful moment, we couldn't have achieved without @pawnationbgc."
"Why do I keep posting these moments, it's because I'm proud and happy. I almost gave up on Pia and accepted her reactivity (she is almost 5 years old).
Until one day I decided before I give up, I could at least try and it was one of the best decisions I ever made.
Our journey with @pawnationbgc is not yet over but to see this much improvement in her after years, we couldn't thank them enough <3."

Training Through All Stages
Peppino was a brand new pup when he started Basic Obedience and then started his adventure with his family in Dubai. He relocated again to the Philippines and continued training after a significant break after puppyhood. Then as the same energetic young adult, Peppino went through Advanced Obedience all the way to Agility Training.
Doxie and Agility...Why Not?!
Some might say dachshunds 'can't' do Agility because of their short legs and long bodies but this is exactly why personalised training shines. For Peppino and all dogs doing Agility, we adjust the equipment, we understand their capabilities and we challenge them within their own unique capacity. Agility Training is a sport and not a 'weekend affair'. All owners of dogs on our Agility Course have dedicated owners who understand the physical and mental needs of their dogs to be able to enjoy and thrive in Agility. Safety always comes first with all Agility Trainees and participants are screened thoroughly. Agility is not for all dogs and that's OK.
"Barry has been training my dog Peppino since he was just 4 months old, and now Peppino is already 3.5 years old! Over the years, Barry has done such an amazing job — he’s patient, knowledgeable, and truly cares about every dog he works with. Peppino has learned so much from him, and I honestly couldn’t ask for a better trainer.
I highly recommend Paw Nation BGC to anyone looking for a dedicated and trustworthy dog trainer!"

Peppino the Agility Athlete
There are no limits to what this dachshund can do. His long body and short legs were never a hindrance for him to do Agility Courses. Safety and professional guidance is key in making sure he gains the confidence and physical stamina required in this sport.

Aggression, Reactivity, Fearfulness
Fuyu (meaning 'winter' in Japanese) was an aggressive barker towards people when outdoors or makes eye contact with her or approaches her stroller. However, when she is alone without her humans in the groomers or pet hotel, she hides from people. She was reactive towards dogs and people so Socialization was the best program moving forward to give her the skills she needed to overcome this.
Leadership
Fuyu already knew basic commands at home but commands don't translate to practical use when dogs are facing extreme stress. Without the words to express, dogs bark (and is Fuyu's case, out of anxiety). By teaching Fuyu's humans to give direction and provide the leadership she needs, Fuyu finally learned it OK to 'take the backseat' when situations get scary and follow his human's lead. With this comes gaining the confidence to handle different situations which resulted in the elimination of her anxiety-driven aggressive barking.
"When we take our dog out, he sometimes barks at other dogs or children, so we were looking for a place where he could be trained and found this place.
The trainer is very experienced, and after consulting with them on Instagram, we requested training.
They carefully observe our dog's personality and create a training program tailored to him. They also give detailed advice during training, so my husband and I learned a lot about how to interact with our dog.
Even after graduating, we now know how to handle situations with other dogs and children around, and our dog seems to understand what he shouldn't do. We're so glad we took him in for training."

Fuyu's Adventure to Overcome Reactivity and Fearfulness
Fuyu was struggling with the how to act when things got scary or strange. This caused her a lot of anxiety which she expressed excessive barking. So practicing in real-time scenarios with her owners was the key in understanding her only job is to remain calm outdoors and she gets a lot of praise and rewards.
